Benefits of Membership

All this for just £1 a month

Having a collective voice

The most important benefit of membership is that together we have collective representation on issues we might wish discussed with the Bank. To know that the Association has our interests as its prime reason for being provides considerable reassurance. This alone would encourage and justify membership but there is much more.

Socialising with like-minded individuals

The Areas organise and produce many social events where members can meet old colleagues and make new friends. Having a common background is a good basis for new friendships and the wide range of social activities and events is a real benefit for members.

Caring about all our members

Sometimes members need additional support in terms of a visit or phone call to see how things are going. Most areas run a scheme whereby volunteers undertake to keep in contact with members who have asked that we keep in touch. It is reassuring to know that should we as individuals need such support our Association is there to help.

Additionally many members volunteer to provide such contact and find the opportunity to help others is rewarding and highly valued.

The Benevolent Fund

The membership fee also contributes to the Benevolent Fund and members who need financial assistance are welcome to apply. The fund covers things which make members lives easier such as contributing to the cost of a stair lift.

PLUS

  • Each year members receive an award winning magazine called 50+ Fresh Horizons (CLICK HERE TO SEE LATEST COPY).
  • Each quarter Areas publish a newsletter detailing forthcoming events as well as latest news from the Area and the RBSGPA in general.

Overall it is a lot for just £1 a month. The magazine and newsletters take much of the budget and everything else is contributed by volunteers.

There is always a welcome for those who can spare time to volunteer to assist in any capacity. It might be organising an event or seeking election to the Area or Management Committee. In the first instance email rbsgpa@gmail.com and give a contact number so one of the team can call you back.
